Knowledgeable and patient tutor
I was struggling immensely in my statistics course to point where I contemplated dropping the class all together. After I failed my first exam, I decided to seek out private tutoring. I'm elated to report that after one session with Renna, I passed my 2nd exam with a score of 98%. I couldn't have done it with out her! She truly has a talent for simplifying complicated course material.

Bio
I graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Wright State University in 2014. Since graduating, I have traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia working as a STEM educator teaching engineering, science, and math to students of all ages. My favorite subject is mathematics, especially high school and college level math. In early 2020, I relocated back to the US due to the pandemic and am currently located in Los Angeles, CA.
I love learning, learning how to learn, and sharing all of my best tips and tricks with students, striving to make STEM classes more accessible to every level of student. I’ve worked with students from all over the world, including the US, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Mainland China, Germany, Bosnia, Canada, and more…
My classes encourage students to question, explore, and create instead of just listening, following, and accepting content as it is taught; striking a healthy balance between learning and good grades. My students build deep understanding of the material and at the same time have all the tools needed to navigate the complexities and time constraints of the modern classroom. My students see, on average, a whole letter grade increase after working with me.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program*:
I have over ten years of experience teaching Math SL and HL topics and I have prepared many students for their final DP Math exam. The final Math SL/HL exam covers topics from Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Differential Equations, Vectors, Statistics, Probability, and more. My students see, on average, a 1.5 point increase on their final exam.
*I am not currently teaching HL AI.

FAQs
-
Online classes can range from 60 minutes up to 120 minutes.
In-person classes can range from 90 minutes to 120 minutes.
-
I’m currently accepting students in grade 7 and beyond.
-
Online classes are held virtually over Zoom. Students will receive a link a join the session within the google calendar invite (see below).
In-person classes are limited to within a 15 minute drive (approximately 3 miles). Any classes outside the 3 mile radius are charged for driving time at the hourly rate.
-
Before the first session, students should have the following:
Topic(s) they would like to study
Textbook/resources they would like to use in class
Any relevant timeframes for their goals (e.g. final exam is in three weeks)
How often they would like to have class per week and for how long
-
The class fee is waived under any extenuating circumstances (e.g. health emergency, technical difficulties outside of the student’s control, etc.). All other missed classes are charged for 1 hour at the hourly r.
Classes cancelled 24 hours before the start of the session will not be charged.
Classes that are initially scheduled in-person and then switched to online will be charged for travel time if the change is made less than 24 hours before the start of a lesson. In-person classes require me to schedule travel time which reduces my availability for other students.
-
If I miss a lesson due to circumstances within my control, I offer the next lesson for free.
-
With the exception of extenuating circumstances, class starts at the scheduled time and in some cases the length of the class cannot be extended (if another student is scheduled after).
-
You will receive a Google Calendar invite by email confirming your session has been scheduled.
